How FC Joias treats its electroplating effluents before returning the water to the environment, with its own treatment plant and constant monitoring.

Effluent treatment

Environmental & Social Impact

Our company is seriously committed to the environment and to preserving life. That is why we take strict measures to control the water used in our production process, ensuring it is treated and returned to the environment within the standards set by environmental agencies.

We use an effluent treatment system that treats and purifies the waste generated during the surface treatment of pieces by electrodeposition. This system uses sodium hypochlorite to oxidize the cyanides in the effluent, reducing their toxicity. The pH is then adjusted so the cyanides are oxidized all the way to carbon dioxide and nitrogen. The metals in the effluent are precipitated as hydroxides, producing a paste-like residue known as electroplating sludge. This residue is dewatered and sent to certified companies.

We also use an ion exchange system to purify the water used in part of the plating process for our gold-plated pieces, reducing water consumption and the amount of chemicals needed to treat the waste.

We stay attentive to environmental issues and constantly look for new ways to improve our production processes, helping to preserve the environment and promote quality of life.
